Job Summary
Lightpath is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intern to join our team supporting and maintaining our critical telecom financial applications. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop hands-on experience with essential systems, including billing platforms, taxation software, and ERP financial management tools. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and an interest in finance.
Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and support telecom financial applications, including billing platforms, taxation software, and ERP systems.
- Manage and update product catalogs within the billing platform.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Monitor and process monthly billing cycles, addressing any issues promptly to ensure successful bill runs.
- Execute and monitor backend jobs and processes to maintain system performance and reliability.
- Manage user access to applications, maintaining secure and appropriate permissions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess impacts, and implement changes to billing systems including new products and other configurations.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential problems to minimize downtime and ensure system stability.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including user guides, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct quarterly SOX audits to ensure compliance
- Provide out-of-hours support during critical billing cycles.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program related to the role, entering their senior year, or recent graduates (undergraduate or master’s level).
- Experience or knowledge of SQL queries for data manipulation and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and backend server management.
- Knowledge of one or more scripting languages (i.e. Python, Javascript, Shell Scripting) a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, particularly during monthly billing cycles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.

Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
