Job Summary

The Intern - Jr. GIS Analyst assists with analyzing complex business problems using Geographic Information Systems.  Provide direct support to the GIS and Records organization with analysis of the Lightpath Fiber Network and provide insights that will help the company maximize its assets.  The candidate will create GIS collateral for the company to use for better insight in the realm of network design, growth, and planning. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform spatial analysis to create reports and maps for Lightpath business units.
  • Develop and create standardized map views that can be published for internal and external use.
  • Always assessing current state of network spatial data and constantly working to improve data quality.
  • Support the GIS tools and companies have easy access to GIS data.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program related to the role, entering their senior year, or recent graduates (undergraduate or master’s level).
  • Pursuing College degree in Computer Science and or Geographical studies.
  • One to three years of experience with strong spatial analysis skills.
  • Ability to work closely with other functions.
  • Ability to develop ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • High energy self-motivator with a strong work ethic and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong sense of teamwork and mentoring highly desired, with a drive for learning and growth.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in scope of position.

 

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Expert with ESRI (Environmental Systems Research Institute) Desktop and ArcWeb.
  • Proficient in Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Knowledge of Inventory Systems such as GE Smallworld, Q-GIS or OSPInsight is a plus.

Success Criteria

  • Develop a deep understanding of Lightpath’s Network and provide value by creating various maps and being able to improve their accuracy.
  • Ability to manage mapping requests from the business and decern a path for sufficing the business needs.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in Colorado. The pay range at the time of posting in the specified locations is $18.00 - $20.00/hour. Pay ranges are supplied in compliance with Colorado law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience.
